Here is another example I found on the interweb in the form of a tweet from @ronsuchoplas
Today I’m a Computer Super Hero! Had 2 tell Westman Cable Internet tech support how 2 do their job, twice! threatened 2 bill’em all my labor.[permalink]
Since our site is so new (2 days old). I thought we should post some content from the web that gives everyone some example of good stories. This video cracked me up and demonstrates the frustration with tech support now a days. Enjoy.

I was working with an user on a computer access issue.
Their complaints were simple:
1. Their computer wasn’t responding.
2. Our support staff wasn’t responding fast enough
3. They wanted to know how to fix this next time.
The type of data was irrelevant; they couldn’t access their files.
I asked to remote access in, they said the machine wasn’t responding.
The keyboard and mouse weren’t working.
I asked if the screen was on, she said NO.
I asked can you see the mouse pointer, she said NO.
I asked here to check to make sure the machine was on; she didn’t know which machine we were working with… oh boy.
I gave her the computer name; the machine was labeled, thank God.
I asked if the machine was ON, she said she didn’t think so… effn Christ! Shoot me now…
She said there wasn’t any lights on- none.
I chuckle.
I asked, can you press the power button? [the machine came to life and 3 minutes later the issue was resolved.
I apologized that we didn’t respond fast enough and to avoid this issue next time- make sure the machine is on; most computers require power.
Please come again.
I received a call from a friend that was having a problem with login’ in to their Internet Banking website and they couldn’t find out the issue. Apparently it was this huge issue.
I talked to them for a second and found the main problem. They said that they weren’t trying to login, this is because they had already logged in at their house, and they were at someone elses house.
I said they’ll have to login there as well…
Disaster averted- almost.
They didn’t know their password- their other computer had the password. It was apparently just supposed to jump from his house to his friends house.
I gave up…

If you’re gonna be the tech support for your parents, you need a remote connection tool. One I highly recommend is TeamViewer. Its free to use for personal use and easy to train your parents how to use. If you’re parents are bugging you on a daily basis, you can even make it boot with windows.

This comes when modems were prevalent in the tech support industry. When a customer bought our system they would get a modem for us to dial in and do support. One time a customer called complaining the system did not work. I asked her to turn on the modem so I can get connected. She said ok and I tried dialing in. I get no connection. I ask her again to make sure the modem was turned on and plugged in. I told her its the black box on top of her PC. She says “The modem is on now.” Still no luck. I ask if the computer is on, she says “Ya thats the modem, its on.” I said “no the black box of the PC.” She said, “This little black box on top of the modem.”
