While Microsoft has started working on their ‘Surface’ platform, this would be a much more applicable and flexible method for input. Do you honestly think that people want to touch a surface that has been touched by thousands of people before; just think of the germ factor.
You have to admit just about everyone has fingers and hands nowadays. Obviously this would be a problem for individuals with handicaps, but I’m sure programming adaptations could be made. If entry and exit ramps can be made for wheelchairs, software changes can be made for computers.
Just by watching the video, you can see very easily how it be able to track an individual’s attention and engulfed them into exploration, learning and entertainment. This seems to be an early adaptation of the software and technology because as the video shows, the reaction to the movements versus what’s happening on the screen has a level of latency, but as the technology advances, the cameras get better and computers get faster; I’ll expect to see this type of technology built into future displays.
