Welcome to TSS

TechSideStories is a site based on the tech support stories told by all walks of people. The goal of TechSideStories is to realize how funny tech support is and to share it with others. To show how one person’s pain is another’s enjoyment. How something that may seem simple to some may be rocket science to others. We want/encourage everyone to share their stories here, so that others can see laughter is found in every situation.

All stories are submitted, selected, reviewed and posted. And where possible, we’re going to place a graphic/illustration with the story. To submit your story go to the submit page and fill out the form. You can also leave us a voicemail by calling 469-248-5877

When Common Sense Can’t Win

There are times when you just can’t win. Most company security polices say that you have to use their equipment, the way they say, when they say it and any deviation from that is prohibited. And any violations of said terms are grounds for termination.

Well then… okay.

Bring on the pain…

Windows; Booting In The Winter.

The argument from employers, why can’t my people get their jobs done?? Maybe because you buy the cheapest pieces of crap PC’s and then load them down with piles of high intensive security crap and then it takes 10 minutes to boot the damn PC and then they wonder why their damn electric bill is higher; it’s because the workers don’t want to turn the PC’s off- so they can just come in and go to work.

That’s why they don’t want to reboot their PC in the middle of the day!

Windows - Booting Syrup

Microsoft Vista is great! …For me to poop on.

There are so many IT Administrator/Consultant guys out there right now that wouldn’t, still- even today, touch Microsoft Vista. And while Microsoft moves on with Windows 7; there’s always gonna be good ole’ Vista in the rafters… like a retarded kid with a hammer.

Don’t lecture others, or ye be lectured.

It dawned on me the other day that while I help others, give advice and point them in the right direction on how to fix things from time to time; I don’t practice what I preach…

Help Desk with Chris Pirillo

No submissions yet to our site so we’ll keep posting content from the web that involve Tech Support. Here we have a new show that just started today called generically, “Help Desk.” The show is a panel of experts from Microsoft answering questions from Microsoft’s Channel 9 forums, twitter, email, and friendfeed with the famous Chris Pirillo as the host.

I’ve embedded the first episode below. With this being microsoft’s site, be sure you have silverlight. Doh!

UPDATE: The original embed did not want to play so I copied the video to my vimeo account.
